YARG! Mate

The mates have returned safely back to land! Kira and Claire (The Mates) have just finished a 3 day two night sailing adventure. The trip was incredible. Our ship was named The Card, and it wasn't one of the more popular ships. We were a bit concerned at the beginning as no one had ever heard of The Card and there were never any brochures of it in any tour agancies. We prepared ourselves for a possible repeat of Fraser Island - chaos. The ship wasn't the prettiest but it was the fastest....literally. We boarded the fastest ship in the Whitsundays with 13 other tour members and 3 crew members. Most ships that go out carry anywhere from 30 to 80 guests. We had 13. Having a small crew was favorable as we were able to help out with many sailing tasks and were able to decide what we wanted to do each day. The first day we had great weather and headed to Whitehaven beach. A beautiful white sand beach. The sand was soooo fine that you could actually clean your jewellery if you wanted to. After spending the afternoon there we sailed to where we would stay for the night. We had a great dinner and then hung out of the deck for the night with some beers and good. Since the weather was so great we were able to sleep out on the deck. We were worried for a moment that we would roll off the edge but were assured that if we don't roll out of our beds we won't roll off of the deck. Around 5 am it started to rain so we headed down into the cabin to finish off the sleep. The next day we got up had some breakfast and went snorkling! The rain held off while we snorkled and we were able to see lots of colorful fish and coral. Claire bit down too hard on her snorkel and suffered lock jaw for most of the time in the water. Claire approached Kira with the lock jaw in the middle of the ocean and laughter almost cause Kira to drown. (not really, but it was hilarious) After snorkling we encountered a WILD sail. It started to storm, and I mean storm. It was raining so hard we figured God was drunk and his girlfriend just cheated on him with Zeus. We were flying through the ocean basically on a 90 degree angle with 35 knot winds. (That's some fierce wind) The rain pellets stung. When we survived the storm, we ended up at South Molle Island resort where we met the other 50 passenger sister ship for dinner and drinks. That night was a lot of fun. The Card basically took over. Since the wind and waves were so big they put us up in dorms in the resort. The next morning we awoke a tad groggy, and stole the other ships eggs and made an egg and bacon breakfast. We had a swim at the resort and lounged for a bit and then got back on the ship for one more sail that would take us back to Airlie Beach. We met a great English couple and hung out with them for the majority of the time, after they gave us the nickname 'Goonbusters'. When we got back to land we showered up and met back up with the English couple for dinner and some drinks. It was another fabulous tour. We are in Airlie for one more night and then we are stopping over in Magnetic Island before we meet up with Kat in Cairns!!!!!!
