We have just returned from an epic 3 day trip to Cape Tribulation and Port Douglas. We had a beautiful drive through the rainforest and conveniently found ourselves at a 5 star resort in the middle of nowhere in Cape Trib. The hostel we were going to stay at was under renovation so they sent a bunch of backpackers to a 5 star resort! It was hilarious. We had a gorgeous wooden cabin with 4 beds and a huge bathroom-that was surrounded by lush forest. Once we got into our room we decided to walk 30 mins into town to get some lunch. While in the grocery store, it started to rain.....a lot. We sat around hoping the rain would die down, but this was not the case. Our only choice was to trek home. We wrapped our clothes and belongings up, put our bathing suits on and strated our journey. We got some courtesy honks and fist pumps from drivers and passengers who appreciated how intense we were. We looked like typical Canadians. Due to the torrential rains we basically just hung out in our cabin for the evening and did some reading and relaxed to the beating rain. The next day we got up, had breakfast which was brought to our room, and went and checked out the beach. The reef/beach/rainforest combination was quite nice to look at. It started to rain again so we headed in and watched a movie in the lounge area. We then got picked up and headed towards Port Douglas only to be stopped by a gushing river that flooded a bridge we needed to get over. After an hour or so of waiting the water level had dropped (a little) and we were able to drive over it. We got into Port Douglas that evening. The town reminded us of Noosa, it's a very rich town where rich people like to vacation. The next day we walked along 4 mile beach and reminisced about our trip thus far, got a delicious coffee from a cool little cafe, and then had a great picnic in the ocean side park. We went back to the hostel and got a drink at happy hour and then enjoy another great bus ride home. We are just hanging out right now, it's raining at the moment, and we are preparing for our day at the reef tomorrow! We head out at 730am - Claire and Kira get to experience their frist scuba dive and Kat will get to add two more dives on to her repitoire. We are basically loving life.

You have to look really hard, but we were on a boat cruise that looked for crocodiles and snakes, and we found this little crocodile. He's a year old, and will grow to be much, much bigger than this!
