It's hairy, grey and oval shaped

We are currently in Byron Bay, NSW. We got on a bus after Willowtree to Newcastle and stayed there for a night. We got yelled at by this random custodian/gateskeeper/security man for playing our music too loud at 730pm. We got on the morning bus and took a 12 hour ride to Byron Bay. Lengthy but well worth it. We stayed in our tents at The Arts Factory for a bit of an uncomfortable hot and sweaty night. It is way more humid up here than Sydney! Hot. Hot. Hot. We got up and went to reception where they informed us they had just gotten an opening in one of their "huts". We went to invstigate. Afte walking over a boardwalk through a jungle/swamp we got to a wooden shacklike hut. A wild turkey was chilling outside. We thought this palce looked welcoming. So we booked the hut and headed to the beach to explore Byron. We hit the beach for some of the first sun the east coast had seen in a while as apparently before we got here there was tonnes of rain. Claire was looking for employment and walked into a cafe only to be told to come back at 4. Sheila lost her pictures the other night by replacing her battery and freaked out, so went to a camera store to get them fixed and luckily recovered 290 pics! Hopefully they are the good ones. We went to the grocery store and got some food for dinner. Mashed Potatoes..finally. Claire went back to the cafe and was told to come back the next day at 2pm for a shift.......???? More on that later. That night we hung out with Kath, and her friends from sydney, and by the end of the night we found ourselves on the beach enjoying a huge jam session. We ventured back to our hut only to find a gigantic, furry, scary spider on the wall. The usually calm foursome were not so calm in this situation. we tried removing the spider with an empty doritos bag, but were unsuccessful. kat looks up spiders in her travel book and the description informed us that the spider was probably poisonous and could cause death. we immediately got front desk. they removed it and said that it wasn't poisonous, which eased us somewhat as we tried to fall asleep. oh ya, a possom was also in our hut. The next day Kat kira and Sheila head to the beach while Claire goes to 'work'. She was immediately thrown an apron and told to work, having no idea where she was or what she was doing, she gave it her best efforts, 2 hours later she was told to take her apron off and would get a call if they needed her. no call. no pay. funny story. we moved in to a nice beach house with Kath (Sheila Kat and Kiras friend from camp) and enjoyed the comfort of having permanent residence for 4 days....longest so far on this trip. we were there for 4 days which were very relaxing, many beach trips, delicious cooked meals and a movie here and there. we have been looking for employment but other than the 1.5 hour cafe stint that calire pulled, nothing is really available. we have decided that we are going to stay in byron for 3 more nights in our tents. we are going to explore nimbin tomorrow and a moutain just off of byron bay, and after the three nights we are going to head up to the gold coast/brisbane to try our luck with finding employment there. claire was offered a bus driving job....that consisted of driving party goers to the bar every night. hahah. she would love more than anything to take this job, but needs a bit more money than free accomodation and some free drinks. when kat kira and claire head up to the gold coast sheila is going to do a surfing tour that will take her back down to sydney where she will settle in at wollongong for her studies.
